“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
This is a command from Jesus. If we follow him, we are called to figure it out. Right now, that can be really hard. But that isn’t an excuse for us. I know that I have deep disagreements with many within my own faith tradition right now – and you probably do too on some matter of importance. But I am reminded today of these words, and I am challenged to live them.
So today, my brother or sister, if we disagree, let us never stop loving. Let us, the people of God, figure it out and lead the way. For we cannot expect a hurting world to ever want to follow the love of our Jesus if they don’t see us loving one another at all.
Lord, help me to remember this. Help me to live it.
Grace and Peace,
