No, I’m not going to tell you the future. I’ll tell you though, if I had a dollar for every time I heard a Christian utter a phrase somewhere in the vicinity of, “I’m really just trying to hear God’s will for this,” I’d be a rich man. Most of us would take a direct audible or visible revelation and instructions from God as a great thing. Some of us believe it is still possible. Others do not. But it would sure be a clear answer to this common Christian question.
Though it seems likely based on the experience of others who’ve encountered God in this way that we’d be terrified at some level, we’d know what we had to do. All that would be left is to obey, and do it.
Ah, that’s where it gets hard.
What if I told you we’ve already got the bulk of the revelation we’re going to get from God? I mean, I really don’t know with any kind of certainty. But I do know this: He’s revealed a TON about who He is, who we are, and what is expected of us. Prophecy in the purest sense is just about reminding us of these foundational principles, calling us back when we’ve violated them, and directing us toward the redemptive love of God.
So here’s your prophecy: you know where your life is unhealthy, unfruitful or just plain wrong. You really do. That is the gift of God by his Spirit. Name those things. Turn from them. Seek the supernatural help of Jesus and the fellowship help of others and move into healing. I declare, along with you, the freedom of Christ over your life.
If we, His people who are called by His name, will humble ourselves, and pray and seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways, then He will hear from heaven, and will forgive our sin and heal our land. He will start right now, in our very own hearts, and the healing will go forth from there.
The prophet has spoken, and he has not revealed anything new – just the everlasting, enduring love of God for you. And that is enough.
