Whether you like it or not, today is a new day. This truth, like many others, gets so easily lost in the shuffle of our lives or dismissed as empty positive thinking. But it’s worth saying again: Today is a NEW day. It’s nothing like yesterday. Tomorrow isn’t here yet.
This is very good news indeed. I find, wrapped here in this simple truth, the entirety of the Gospel of Jesus – the good news of God’s great love for us. No matter what we faced or did or suffered in our “yesterdays,” God has made a way for a new “today.” The bible says it another way in Lamentations 3:22-23. I love the King James Version:
“It is of the Lord‘s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Every morning. His compassion – his mercy – his love – is new toward us every single day. So today, no matter what yesterday brought and no matter what you think tomorrow might bring – rest in this truth: God loves you, his compassionate mercy is here for you anew today, and they fail not. He is faithful. You can bank on all this. Let this truth fill your heart and mind today, and walk in the joy and freedom it brings.
